The second piece is now up in AARP’s multimedia series about hunger among older Americans. “Hard Choices” was reported by Homelands’ Sandy Tolan, with photos and video by Larry Towell of Magnum. Magnum in Motion produced. The 6-minute piece looks at the dramatic increase in poverty and food insecurity in rural Tuolomne County, California, near Yosemite National Park, and at the ways in which older residents are trying to cope. The first piece in the series, “A Little Goes a Long Way,” looks at efforts to increase elderly participation in the food stamp program in Texas.
