The Border Chronicle, an independent newsroom in Tucson, Arizona, has received a $350,000 grant from the MacArthur Foundation “to support its original on-the-ground reporting, with context and analysis, on issues important to borderland communities.”
The Border Chronicle is one of Homelands’ fiscally sponsored projects.
The grant is part of more than $6 million in new funding to eight organizations “that are working to address the unique challenges local news and information environments face along the U.S.-Mexico border.”
The announcement came in a press release from the foundation’s Local News grantmaking program.
Led by veteran journalists Melissa del Bosque and Todd Miller, The Border Chronicle produces a weekly Substack newsletter and podcast. Homelands’ fiscal sponsorship allows it to receive tax-deductible grants and donations. You can learn more, subscribe, and donate here.
