Barbara Ferry has worked as a print
and radio reporter in California, Washington D.C., and
New Mexico. For the Santa Fe New Mexican, she wrote
a groundbreaking series on heroin addiction in rural
areas of New Mexico which garnered national attention.
She has also written for publications including High
Country News, The Texas Observer, and The Atlantic Monthly,
and produced radio stories for Living on Earth and Latino
USA.
Her first radio documentary for Homelands, a profile of
environmental pilot
Sandy Lanham, won
a Gracie Allen award
in 2001.
Before becoming a journalist, she worked with Central
American refugees in Texas and in El Salvador.
Barbara lives in Santa Fe with her husband and daughter.
